Children's portfolios are a collection of children's work, photos, stories from home and 'Learning Stories' which will be gathered during your child's time at Mahurangi Kindergarten.

'Learning Stories' are what teachers use as a way for documenting and assessing children's strengths, interests and progress. Through 'Learning Stories' teachers are able to capture children as they are involved in learning experiences, project work or an event, and this helps teachers to learn more about your child and their learning.  Learning Stories are also used to look at the teachers role in the learning experience for example, the way we respond or ways we can build on your child's interests and learning experiences.

The Learning Story framework is based on the belief that developing good learning dispositions or attitudes are most important for your child and their future learning. This is because good, well developed learning dispositions, for example, perseverance, responsibility, and confidence will benefit your child as a life long learner.
