On Monday 23rd of March, we all walked down to look at Warkworth Primary School's entries in their Giant Pumpkin Growing Competition. There were HUGE, small, ugly and even fancy dress pumpkins! Since this walk our kindy children have written and illustrated their own book called "Rainbow Pumpkin" and just today baked pumpkin scones to share for morning tea. The children are enjoying stories about pumpkins and are being inspired to grow their own pumpkins. This trip was unplanned and happened spontaneously on the Monday morning. It is a wonderful example of the great community we live in and how childrens learning and interests can be fostered within the kindergarten environment and the wider community. Thanks to all the WONDERFUL parents who were asked (unexpectedly!) to stay on for an hour to accompany the children down to the school, it meant that everyone could be included and enjoy the experience. Thanks also to Warkworth Primary School, who are so welcoming to us, always.
